Supervision At Badger’s Place
What is supervision?
The Psychology Board of Australia defines supervision as “an interactive process between a supervisee and a supervisor. It provides the supervisee with a professionally stimulating and supportive opportunity for growth. Supervision involves a special type of professional relationship in which supportive direction, facilitative activities, and instructive critique is given by the supervisors to help the supervisee achieve their professional goals”.
Who can provide supervision?
The Psychology Board of Australia requires a registered psychologist to have held general registration for at least three years before completing supervisor training with a Board-approved supervisor training provider. The full training requires 30 hours of commitment to interactive learning and consists of three parts to be completed in sequence: Knowledge assessment, skills training workshop, and competency-based assessment including evaluation. A principal supervisor in a registrar program will also need to hold an endorsement in the relevant area of practice for at least two years.
Can Badger’s Place Provide Supervision?
In April 2025, Belinda received Board Approved Supervisor (BAS) status after successfully completing the full training program. Belinda additionally holds an endorsement in Educational & Developmental Psychology, however, at this time is not available as a Primary Supervisor in the endorsement program.
At Badger’s Place supervision can be provided to individuals, groups, and schools via Telehealth.
How Can Badger’s Place Help?
Badger’s Place provides holistic care and client-centred support for the neurodivergent community. As a neurodivergent psychologist Belinda brings with her a wealth of knowledge gained from personal and lived experience from educating, parenting, and advocating for the needs of neurodivergent children. Badger’s Place is aligned with the social model of disability where emphasis is placed on accommodating, modifying, and/or adapting the environment or task to remove barriers to achievement and growth. Badger’s Place recognises the intersectionality of neurodivergence with other identities such as race and gender in clinical practice as well as community support.
